During a recent visit back to my native Turkey recently, I rekindled a love for Turkish ottoman style jewels. The turquoise beads, watchful “nazar” eyes and dripping coins give me a sultan like regality that I could certainly get used to.

I haven’t been able to control my craze for this trend since it started and I have consequently spent a mini fortune on a number of collar necklaces. (see images above). A great accessory for sprucing up dull outfits and injecting a touch of glamour into everyday attire.

Ever found yourself watching Casino for the umpteenth time and thought “Wow, Sharon Stone is a real conniving bitch, but GOD I want her earrings/watch/bracelet”? I certainly have.
My first brush with the on screen gangster’s female counterpart would have to have been when I first laid eyes on Lorraine Bracco as Ray Liotta’s wifey in Goodfellas. Her matching florals, big hair and of course, shiny jewels made for the ultimate power woman. I remember my 7 year old self thinking, THAT is exactly what I want to look like as a grown woman: a slutty, bouffant haired mafia wife, with pearls dripping from my every orifice.
16 years later and I am pleased to announce, ladies, that a brand has arisen from the depths of Fashion mecca (Milan) to allow this dream to come true.
Meet GOGO PHILIP.
Meet vintage inspired jewellery with a fresh and current twist.
Meet jewellery that delivers to your every retro need but hasn’t been worn by God-knows-how-many people since it’s debut in the 70s.
And finally, meet the jewellery brand that has produced a line so stunning that it’s pieces could brighten up even one of Natalie Cassidy’s shitty outfits.
Seriously, check it out.
Prices range from £5-25. GOGO PHILIP is available as a concession within Topshop and on asos.com.

Let me introduce you to my latest obsession- the YSL ring.
I haven’t been this infatuated with one item since the Spice Girls released their collectible photo albums. And even then my obsession only occured because I was so utterly mesmerised by the fish tank platforms and devil horn accessories that were featured through out. Now as a 23 year old woman, it is far shinier, pricier trinkets that catch my eye.
YSL’s latest collection of arty semi precious rings have been spotted on the likes of celeb style icons Kim Kardashian and Alexa Chung. On first inspection the chunky stones and wrapped gold are reminiscent of the jewellery that your GCSE art teacher probably used to wear. However, when teamed with the correct nail polish (Essie) and suitable threads these babies will have your friends lulzing with envy. They are the epitome of designer glamour crossed with gap yah chic, what’s not to like?

Whether it’s the hassidic hemoglobin coursing through my tight-fisted veins or my inability to mature past the days when I used to dress head to toe in white kappa and spend my weekends in SegaWorld, I just can’t shake my obsession with faux gold and much like the stingey magpie that bore me I have a vast collection of 18 carat base metals.
If 2000 was the year for gold hair mascara and 2001 Dr Dre themed bellybars, 2002 until present have been all about hoop earrings. I mean, it probably all stems from reception when my best friend told me hoop earrings were her thing and I wasn’t allowed to wear them anymore, and then for Hannakuh my father (the inventor of toaster strudels) got this pair of really expensive white gold hoops and I had to pretend like I didn’t even like them and it was so sad.
So now I’m going to share with you the superbabes of hoop earrings (and we’re talking the Chloe Mafias of the Snog, Marry, Avoid realm) BUT because I’m a selfish ol’ bastard with compassion for no-one but mysen, I sure as hell won’t be advising you on where to teef ‘em from.

Congrats baby girl, you’ve almost gone from mingin’ to blingin’ in a creole, and when the most relevant search result on google produces this yahoo Q&A you know you’ve picked the right accessory.
I love all types of accessories. Big and small, in yer face and understated, gold, silver AND rose gold. From necklaces to rings I love them all. However the one item that wears a jewel encrusted crown as my favourite accessory of all time is, of course, the wrist watch. If you, reader, feel as passionately as I then you are in luck! The wonderful people at GUESS Watches and Jewellery have released some gorgeous new pieces that can only described, quite aptly, as WRIST PORN. Prices range from £139-£190, making these beauties a definite contender for your wish list.

Today we pay homage to Whitney Houston. Despite ups, downs, crack addictions and abusive husbands, the gal appeared to have enjoyed her life to the full and she sure knew how to work a pearl necklace. RIP girl.
